Here, we find Lightbody confronting her own defensiveness and dissatisfaction, while simultaneously attempting to loosen, notice beauty and pleasure, and relinquish herself from what she learns she cannot control. With layers of perfectly tucked backing vocals, swirling guitars in harmony, chugging bass lines, and romantic, melodic flutes, Lightbody has crafted a playful and pristinely recorded collection of indie-folk songs, veering between 70s Brazilian samba and contemporary electro-pop. Since 2024 the trio of Matt Gold (telecaster-as-lead-singer), Gus Martini (sit-down electric bass), and Quin Kirchner (drums) has maintained a residency at Simon’s Tavern, and on special occasions they agree to appear beyond the confines of that nearly 100-year old beloved bar.
