Come see a community preview of September 12's Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture, 7-9pm, Tuesday night! The longest-running Filipino cultural celebration in Southern California now in its 32nd year, will take place at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro, CA. The Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC) is more than just a day of live musical performances and vendor booths. Festival-goers can also expect a cultural immersion featuring traditional dance performances, dedicated children's, seniors and ancestral village pavilions , and an ArtPHair showcasing the talents of Filipino American visual artists. 2220 welcomes Candice Hoyes, a mesmerizing soprano with a deep connection to her heritage. Hoyes brings a rich history to her music, and her new album, Expecting, releases August 28th. The second single and title track, Expecting, dropped on June 19th, 2026. In 2024, Hoyes made her composer debut at Lincoln Center in the world premiere of Sadah Espii Proctor’s "adrift," the first augmented reality installation in the Social Sculptures Project, a series of public art exhibitions. Upcoming debuts included The Kennedy Center, Morgan Library and Museum, Pioneer Works curated by Moor Mother, Blacktronika Festival, Public Records, unerhört! Festival, Harlem Chamber Players, The Shed and the Center for Performance Research. Known for her "chill-inducing range" (Vogue), Candice is a vocalist for the new Chicago-based large ensemble Rotary Connection 222, music directed by Junius Paul and led by Charlene, Eibur and Chanté Stepney. One night only, Locust (Mark Van Hoen) celebrates a new album, Spectral+, with a performance on the 2220 main stage, presented by Pretty But Wicked. ∆ Locust, the project of British electronic composer and producer Mark Van Hoen, exists in the space between ambient music, IDM, and dream pop. Since emerging in the 1990s, Van Hoen has built a cult following through recordings that combine intricate electronic production with deeply emotional songwriting. Best known for the acclaimed 1997 album Morning Light, Locust fused fractured rhythms, haunting vocals, and immersive atmospheres into a sound that felt both futuristic and deeply human. The record remains a landmark of late-'90s electronic music, still celebrated decades later. September 2026 marks the release of Spectral+, the latest chapter in the Locust story and the first release to fully showcase the project's current live incarnation. Featuring a full band led by Van Hoen alongside Olive Kimoto (vocals, keyboards), Jaelyn Valero (drums), and Derek Mabra (guitar), the new lineup expands Locust's singular sound into a powerful live experience. For this special record release performance at 2220 Arts + Archives, Locust will present material from Spectral+ alongside selections spanning the project's catalog, including many from Morning Light, bringing together nearly three decades of atmospheric, emotionally resonant music.

BAMM BAMM and 2220 present one night with Australian singer Carla dal Forno, featuring songs from her latest LP Confession, just released on Kallista Records. ~ “After a career spent spinning post-punk in Australian bands F Ingers and Tarcar, Carla dal Forno went solo to find her voice merging dreamy-pop ambiance with a cool-toned remove. Now on her fourth album whittling that style, dal Forno holed up in the shadows and isolation of a disused hospital in her remote, 8,000-person capacity town in Australia to record Confession, pushing her sound to embrace bigger and more haunting effects. 2220 Arts presents a night of adventurous keyboard works in two parallel programs of solo performance. Erik Hall will perform Simeon ten Holt’s masterpiece of minimalism, Canto Ostinato for Rhodes electric piano, and Gavin Gamboa will begin the evening with a curated program for acoustic piano. Two sets of 45-60 min each with a 15 min intermission in between. ~ Over four years, two studio albums, and concert performances of myriad iterations, Erik’s journey with the iconic piece has been praised by Bandcamp Daily, NPR Music, The Wire, and The New York Times. Following his 2023 solo interpretation, this past April saw the release of his new chamber orchestra adaptation alongside NYC’s Metropolis Ensemble and Sandbox Percussion. For this intimate performance—his LA solo debut—Erik will present the continuous hour-long piece on a Fender Rhodes electric piano. ~ Erik Hall is a musician and composer in Michigan. He is best known for his multi-instrumental recordings and live performances of contemporary classical works. His 2020 re-creation of Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians won the Libera Award for Best Classical Record, and his 2023 interpretation of Simeon ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato followed with a nomination in the same category. Erik has composed or arranged music for Chicago’s Grammy-winning Third Coast Percussion, NYC’s Grammy-nominated Metropolis Ensemble and Sandbox Percussion, and for feature films. He has recorded and toured with NOMO, Wild Belle, His Name Is Alive, In Tall Buildings, and Lean Year, appearing at Lollapalooza, Coachella, Pitchfork Music Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, CONAN, and The Tonight Show. The opening act is the impossible-to-accurately-describe Irene Moon, who will break your brain with even more words and sounds about insects that you didn't know you didn't know. DJ Professor Cantaloupe spins vinyl in the lounge throughout the night! ∆ Legendary sound collage group Negativland and live cinema visual artist SUE-C collaborate to bring you their latest audio-visual performance about our minds, our current realities, and the evolving forms of media and technology that orchestrate our perceptions: SIGNIFICANTLY LESS DECEPTIVE. For more than four decades, Negativland has redefined experimental media through their culture-jamming practice, exposing the mechanics of misinformation and spectacle. Seltmann, PhD, an entomologist and Director of the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration at UC Santa Barbara. Since 1997, Scientifically Speaking with Irene Moon has brought the aesthetics of the laboratory into art galleries, radio stations, and music venues.
