Shagshop Rooftop, a Brooklyn party/jam-filled band from Brooklyn, got its name from throwing a dozen raucous DIY rooftop parties atop of Shag, a sexy shop in Williamsburg, over the last seven years. Their last rooftop show, on top of Shag, brought over 200 people and was featured on Mayor Mamdani's Instagram. With catchy originals spanning several genres (latin, Indie, rock, funk) and covers that span from Radiohead to Led Zeppelin to the Beatles to Frank Sinatra -- Shagshop Rooftop has graduated from its own rooftop to venues across the city, including a sold out show at Union Pool earlier this year, and now to their Sultan Room Rooftop debut, where they will be joined by Good Time Mystery Vision. Residual Groove, indie-jam band out of CT, joins forces with NYC’s own Honey Marmalade and M. Dunton (of Talk Radio) on Thursday 10/22 for a special night of music under the stars on the Sultan Room Rooftop ! M Dunton: M. Dunton is a New York City-based singer/songwriter and guitarist. Raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, he later moved to Nashville where he built hit reputation as a touring and session guitarist for artists like Paul McDonald & The Mourning Doves, Sam Outlaw, Ross Cooper, and others. Residual Groove: Residual Groove is a five-piece indie-jam band from Southern Connecticut that has quickly carved out a rising presence on the modern jam landscape through fearless creativity and locked-in musical chemistry. Blending psychedelic funk rock and thoughtful indie-reminiscent songwriting, the band thrives at the intersection of structure and spontaneity, where carefully crafted songs open into expansive, playful jams and seamless, improv-driven segues. Honey Marmalade- Performing under the stage name Honey Marmalade, Olivia Klein is a singer from Omaha, Nebraska. After moving to New York to pursue music, Honey Marmalade has the fluidity to perform as a singer-songwriter, trio, or full-blown band. Pulling from influences of Blues, Rock, Indie, and Soul, Honey Marmalade strikes up a balance of Janis Joplin-like vocals with equally powerful instrumental support. Presented by The Sultan Room. Arkose is making their NYC debut on October 23, 2026. They will have their ATL to NYC connection friends, Kevin Oliver Jr. & Freedom Attic on the show as well. There will also be some special guest. Arkose: Arkose is the dynamic duo of Noah Sills & Tad Adams from Atlanta, Georgia. The multi-instrumentalists met in high school band back in 2012. They had a mutual love for Hip-hop, Jazz, R&B & Classic Rock. The duo has worked with some great artists such as: Musiq Soulchild, 6LACK, Childish Major, Akeem Ali, SWAVAY, Chase Shakur , Jai'Len Josey, Lil Gnar, Eddie 9V, KELS & Kennedy Ryon. They have also caught the attention of celebrities/artists such as: Snoop Dogg, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Raphael Saadiq, Giles Peterson, Ceelo Green, Joe, Sister Sledge, Stuart Zender, EARTHGANG, Trinidad James, and so many more. The definition of Arkose is a sedimentary rock (A rock made up of rocks). That’s how they approach their music, hence their “Diamond Cut” sound. Kevin Oliver: Born in Atlanta, Kevin Oliver, Jr, is a saxophonist currently pursuing an undergraduate degree at The Juilliard School. Kevin starting performing at the age of 11. He started off busking in downtown Atlanta at sporting events, parks and street corners eager to share his gift with the world. He was inspired to keep playing by the happiness that he saw on the faces of people who stopped to listen and meet him. Now 18, he has had the chance to take advantage of a plethora of musical opportunities. He was a part of the inaugural year of NYO Jazz directed by Sean Jones and played concerts at Carnegie Hall and across Europe alongside Dianne Reeves and a big band of some of the brightest young musicians around the country. He was also selected as a YoungArts Finalist for 2019. Along with playing music, Kevin is also a stand-up comedian. From an early age, Kevin has been inspired by his heroes John Coltrane, Dave Chappelle, and Donald Glover. He was inspired by how each of these artists played music or told jokes in a way that was not only entertaining, but socially conscious. Kevin is inspired specifically by Donald Glover and wants to join him in dismantling the idea that performers can’t be great in multiple areas. He started his band the Kevin Oliver, Jr. Group in hopes to combine African-American musical traditions (gospel, early swing traditions, bebop, avant garde, hip hop, R&B) and stand-up comedy in a way that is fresh and uniquely his own. The sound was inspired by old playbills that had acts like Miles Davis and John Coltrane on a double bill with comedians like Richard Pryor. His mission is to cultivate a sound and aesthetic that demonstrate a profound level of creativity, beauty, and meaning. By assimilating, writing, and performing, he aspires to create art that embodies his sincerest sentiments and to connect with his audiences in an honest way. Freedom Attic: Freedom Attic is an artist that resides in NYC. From his wide range of Indie Rock to Indie Folk, Freedom Attic brings true meaning to the word Freedom in his music.
