Capturing audiences with her distinct tone, bedroom pop sound, and striking image, she began posting short-form videos teasing original songs that quickly gained traction online. These clips drew viewers into the unique universe she’s building, a glimpse of which you can find from her Tumblr. Her latest tracks, “tonight,” “spearmint” and “slowbird,” highlight her quirky ear for production paired with her uniquely crafted lyrics. Despite having limited formal musical training, just childhood piano lessons and a MIDI keyboard, she developed a raw distinctive style through minimalistic, self-produced beats that showcase her signature sonic and visual palette. With guidance from collaborators like Mike Furlong and Michael Uzowuru, as well as drawing inspiration from artists including Joni Mitchell and Frank Ocean, girlsweetvoiced has been refining her sound to create music that merges pop sensibilities with her singular artistic perspective. Her name draws inspiration from the ancient Greek poet Sappho, who wrote nearly 10,000 lines of lyric poetry (though only fragments have survived), including the phrase “girl sweetvoiced.” Much like Sappho’s work, girlsweetvoiced’s music explores themes of the female experience, love, yearning, and loss.
