The Pandoras, Jesika von Rabbit, V★Silver ::: One of the leading acts on the Los Angeles garage punk scene of the '80s, The Pandoras were also one of the few all-female acts on the fuzztone and Farfisa circuit, though they were more stylistically diverse than most of their peers. The Pandoras were formed in 1982 by Paula Pierce, a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter who led the mod-revival band (later ) but was interested in exploring raw '60s-influenced sounds. Pierce posted flyers looking for other women into garage punk, and Deborah Mendoza, who played guitar and bass, answered the ad. Mendoza persuaded her friend Casey Gomez to play drums in the new group, while Pierce recruited keyboard player Gwynne Kelly, and the first lineup of the Pandoras was complete. In 1983, the band issued their debut EP, I'm Here I'm Gone, on local label , but by the time it was released, Mendoza was out of the group, with Bambi Conway taking over on bass. Formerly the frontwoman and chief songwriter of the iconic Joshua Tree act Gram Rabbit, Jesika von Rabbit has released three solo albums, a bevy of singles, and visually arresting videos. von Rabbit’s art is mind-bending, sexy, weird, medicated, and endearing. She’s simultaneously pop and Americana, accessible and avant-garde. Her stage show features the Grundles, her Wonka-esque dancers who interpret the set with an array of amusing costumes and Vaudevillian skits, and her long-time bassist (who doubles on guitar on her recordings), Lee Joseph. V★Silver is the New York–based shimmering alter ego of singer, songwriter, and record producer Vanessa Silberman. Her music fuses prism-colored alt-pop with pastel-glossed, blooming melodies, radiant synths, cinematic textures, and raw, honest lyrics that build emotional tension through heart-forward storytelling. Her debut single “Chasing Magic” marked the launch of the project — a heart-charged pop gem crafted for anyone who believes in chasing the unseen. Co-produced and mixed by Justin Hergett (Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Shiny Toy Guns) alongside Silberman, the track introduced listeners to a sonic world of longing, love, and transformation. Presented by Gold-Diggers.
