Dedicated to the Songs You Know and Love, Even If You Don't Know You Love Them You were cool, right? You listened to Nirvana. You listened to Sonic Youth. You listened to Pavement. You did not listen to Matchbox 20. You did not listen to the Goo Goo Dolls. You certainly did not listen to that "I wAnT sOmEthiNg elSe" band. No, that was poppy crap for dorks. You were cool. But sometimes those songs would come on the radio in your car, and it would be just you, and you'd start singing along, and you'd know every word even though you didn't want to know every word... It's not that I don't love Nirvana or Sonic Youth or Pavement, it's just that... I don't really listen to those bands anymore. Like, I get it. They changed everything. They're revolutionary. They're so cool. I'm just too old to care about being cool. I listen to the lame stuff, I'm all about the lame stuff. I came up with this concept because I just now, at 33 years old, realized what a great album Third Eye Blind is. Like, the whole thing rocks! Not just "Jumper" or "How's It Gonna Be" but "The Background" and "I Want You" too! And then I started thinking on the other songs that I just love to actually listen to; "Slide" by Goo Goo Dolls, "All You Wanted" by Michelle Branch, "Shimmer" by Fuel, "Falls Apart" by Sugar Ray, "Why Georgia" by John Mayer. That's when I realized, we need to celebrate these songs. And that's what Semi-Charmed Kind of Night is. It's a celebration of the lame stuff. It's a place where we don't have to be nostalgic for these songs, we can enjoy them for what they are right now, together. Maybe singing your heart out to "3AM" (admit it, you can't resist this part; "but OUTSIDE... it stopped RAIN-IIIIIN'") isn't cool, but it sure is fun. Presented by Gold-Diggers.
