The now 25-year-old Chicago-based musician became an indie heartthrob and playlist darling while still a teenager, sharing space and stages with the superstars of bedroom pop even as he chafed at that genre description. Recording and even shooting videos in his bedroom on Chicago's South Side, Victor's career has been a case study in ingenuity, scrappiness, and reinvention. Born to a father who played mariachi and a mother who led a singing group active across the U.S. and Mexico, Victor Cervantes grew up with music in his blood and a financial motive to match. He wanted to get his family out of the neighborhood. That drive produced one of indie pop's most quietly defining moments: "Tinder Song," a candid exploration of identity and desire that has now crossed 56 million all-time streams and remains a touchstone for LGBTQ listeners. With his forthcoming album Glitter Pop, slated for mid-August 2026, Victor is stepping into his most ambitious chapter yet. Named after a SoundCloud hashtag he coined back in 2017, the project bridges Latin America and the U.S., blending alt-pop production with Latin cultural excerpts and the influence of artists like Kevin Abstract and Dominic Fike.
