Live Wire Radio is an independently produced radio show that artfully blends unpredictable conversation, live music, and original comedy featuring all types of cultural talent and creative minds, from emerging artists to established acts. Join host Luke Burbank and announcer Elena Passarello for a live recording of this popular radio show, heard nationwide by thousands of listeners every weekend. Chuck Klosterman is the bestselling author of ten nonfiction books (including The Nineties ; But What If We’re Wrong ?; and Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs ), two novels, and a short story collection. He has written for The New York Times , The Washington Post , GQ , Esquire , Spin , The Guardian , The Believer , and ESPN . Klosterman served as the Ethicist for The New York Times Magazine for three years and was a founder of the website Grantland with Bill Simmons. His latest book, Rock*: A Mainstream Alternative History of Alternative Mainstream Music , rewrites the history of reality in an “ingenious” (Kirkus Reviews) work of speculative fiction based on a question that has never been considered or (in all likelihood) even asked: What if The Beatles had only developed a cult following while the Velvet Underground emerged as the most popular band in the world? Joey Clift is a comedian, TV writer, director, Peabody and Emmy-nominated producer, and enrolled member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. Joey attended college to become a local TV weather person because he didn’t see any Native American comedians on television as a kid, and that made him believe he wasn’t allowed to work in comedy. He has since proven otherwise, writing for critically acclaimed TV series like Spirit Rangers on Netflix, Molly of Denali on PBS and Paw Patrol on Nickelodeon. His debut book, We’ve Been Here the Whole Time!: A Not So Sacred Guide to All Things Native America , takes readers on a hilarious journey through a wide range of misconceptions, weird questions, and even weirder assumptions, covering everything from Pocahontas and sports mascots to ancestry claims and the Land Back movement. Ages and Ages is a joyful indie rock band from Portland, formed in 2009 before signing to Partisan Records in 2011. Along the way, they’ve released three albums, played Newport Folk Festival, and delivered a session for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series, where Robin Hilton called their music “unabashedly inspirational, thoughtful and crazy-catchy, in ways that make it hard to listen without feeling better about the state of the world.” Their latest album, Fine Thanks and You , reflects the polite and truncated outer shell of a much longer and more complicated story we all have.
